Wake up Cassie…

I just finished Cassie’s Grape Shrug, and I had to wake her up to have her try it on, and so I could take her picture!

She didn’t want to get up, but as soon as I got the shrug on her she just wanted to show her daddy how cute she looks.

He wasn’t impressed… he doesn’t think she needs a shrug.  It must feel awful to be WRONG!  I think this will be mostly her indoor shrug.  Rick likes to keep it too cool in the house and poor Cassie and I are such delicate flowers (snicker, snicker, giggle).  🙂

This is her pre “grrrrr leave me alone” face.

If I wasn’t constantly calling her name she was ready to lay back down on her blankie in front of the fireplace.  So I thought she didn’t want it on… she gave me a little grrrr when I went to take it off of her.  I don’t think she understands the concept of “this is your Christmas present, and you don’t get it now”!

OK, I am now returning to my regularly scheduled holiday knitting.  If you have a dog, knit this shrug… just because it feels good, and it will make you smile when you are done!

Details for this project are on my Ravelry page.  What? you don’t have Ravelry… well, why not!?!?

A Hot Shower and A Cookie…

Saturday…  The sun is shining today and the sky is all blue!  Well, it doesn’t look so blue in this picture, but it was, and it was very calm on the lake.

Well, last night I did stay up and bake cookies!  Butterscotch and Chocolate Chip cookies.  Last weekend before the storm, I stopped in at The Market Place in Aberdeen and picked up some whole wheat pastry flour.  Perfect in my cookies.  I think I’ll be stopping in again soon for more.  Oh, and if you stop in there, be sure to pick up a pumpkin cookie at the register, they are the best in the world.  Yes, that’s right, the world.  Big chewy soft pumpkin cookies – wish I had one now!  Well as this day unfolds I have now sheared both dogs like sheep today, and I’ve vacuumed twice.  We are on the 3rd load of laundry and things are really looking up.  I’m even thinking about baking a lasagna for dinner… well, maybe I shouldn’t get so carried away.  If I do too much Rick will wonder why I don’t do these things more often, and that would cut into my knitting time.

I’ll wrap up this post later tonight… back to house work!

OK, I didn’t get back to the computer on Saturday so I’m finishing up this post today (Sunday).

Our sunshine is gone and it’s cold and rainy and foggy.  But, I don’t even care… WE HAVE POWER and I can take a HOT shower!  I slept in again this morning and it felt sooooo good.  Rick had to get up at 4:00am to get ready and be on duty at 6:00 am.  So that gave me the day to play and be lazy.  I shaved Thor again, his hair has never, ever, ever been this short, and I love it!  Rick was shocked when he got home and saw him.  But he is so soft and cute, it makes him look more puppy-like.

I started Cassie’s Shrug last night, just couldn’t help myself.  I was really surprised when she picked the cheap grape colored yarn over the Cascade 220 orange.  But, it’s for her so whatever.  I almost finished it.  I have 5 more rows to go and then I’ll get some pictures of her wearing it.  She does look pretty good in purple, but I really liked the orange.  Maybe I’ll make another one later.  Here’s what I have so far for pictures of the Cables + Bits shrug.

Don’t you love the picture of this cute little dog wearing a blue shrug!

The inside looks pretty cool huh!  What a beautiful pick up and knit line I made.

Here’s the back of it, so you can see the simple Tangled Cable pattern.

I love this pattern because it’s so quick and easy.  Sarah Wilson has out done herself with this cute and fun little pattern.  Thanks for sharing it with us.  (Yes, I know I have lots of other projects I’m supposed to be working on… but… well… ya know how it is.)  🙂

I guess it’s that time to get things wrapped up for the night and get ready for another fun filled week at work!  But first I have to finish Cassie’s Shrug!

Night-Night!

Nope, not yet…

We still have no power!  This is day 5 – Friday – the end of a very, very long week.  Our local PUD is saying that we might get power tonight or sometime tomorrow.  I’m thinking I’ll sleep in tomorrow. 🙂  The temperature is dropping and the skies are clearing, so it should be a beautiful day tomorrow.  When I left work tonight at 5 pm the temp was 38 degrees in Montesano.  It gets warmer the closer you get to the beach, we are in the mid 40s now and might get as low as 35 – 38 tonight.  Tomorrow might be a good day to go up the beach north of here and check out the damage, and check in on some friends of ours that live at Copalis Beach.  I don’t think they have power yet either.

It’s funny the things you want to do when you can’t… like vacuuming!  My two “hairiest dogs in the world” seem to be shedding more than necessary.  Good thing they keep us warm at night or they’d be out on their ear… yeah, I know that would never happen, but I am thinking they need to be shaved!

One more wash cloth done for the bazaar next week.  It’s bright pink, orange and yellow and looks very tutti-fruity to me.

Have you been out the the knitty site lately?  My dog Cassie is screaming for this Cables + bits!  So I’m going to have her pick out some yarn from my stash, and that will be her Christmas present.  She’s a dog… like she’s going to remember what I’m making her after she picks the yarn color.  Thor now he’s a little tuffer.  He hates to wear anything, he is far too cool for clothes.  I think we’ll pick him up a new squeaky toy at the new pet/toy store here in Ocean Shores.  They have the cutes stuff for dogs in there.  No, our dogs aren’t spoiled!

Well time for me to get back to knitting.  And I only have 30 minutes before the man turns off the generator for the night.

Be safe, and stay warm out there.
